What are device drivers

Device Drivers are the interface between your computer and peripheral devices (eg, printer, monitor, camera, scanner). Device Drivers form the software connection between the computer's CPU and the peripheral components. The CPU communicates with the Drivers, and they in turn communicate with the Printer, or Scanner, or camera, or what ever you have connected to it.

How does updating drivers improve performance?

New drivers may perform more efficiently, or repair a minor bug in earlier versions which impeded computer speed. Sometimes, the drivers require updating and can significantly improve over-all performance of both the device and the computer system it is connected to.
